Sean McCauley has always felt a need to serve his country partly due to his history education background but mostly due to his father's service during Vietnam. Taking advantage of his National Guard education waiver, Sean is continuing as a first-year Rutgers School of Graduate Studies student. Not only is he earning his third master's degree, this time in the UN and Global Policy studies, but he is currently working full time this winter and spring with the NJ National Guard for COVID relief efforts. Captain McCauley, of the 177th, is the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Vineland Veteran's Home in New Jersey and the Assistant Director of Operations involved in the delivery processes for the state's vaccine point of distribution (POD) center in Atlantic City.

Capt. McCauley is working with the Office of Emergency Management, AtlantiCare Healthcare administration, Atlantic County representatives, Vineland Veteran Home Supervisors, and New Jersey National Guard Leadership. The Veteran Home mission is to support and secure our state's veteran facilities by implementing COVID guidelines and ensuring the residents' enrichment. The AC POD's objective is to provide an extensive quantity of vaccination appointments to the people of New Jersey. Onsite the NJ National Guard has over 50 personnel, which makes up various responsibilities to the site's day-to-day. The POD has started vaccinating 3,000 people a day, soon to be 4,000. Currently, the AC site has vaccinated 40,000 people, with a combined total of all six sites equaling 350,000 and climbing.
