Students on the Move

For over two months, Yasin volunteered with Echo100plus, an Austrian NGO with a grassroots campaign on the island of Leros, Greece. Throughout his experience, he worked at a Hub community center, PIKPA shelter, and refugee camp teaching English, swimming, and basketball to refugees and asylum seekers from several war-torn countries. Through engagement and exchange, he was able to transcend the boundaries of division and humanize the crisis that is often politicized. He greatly appreciates everyone who made this experience possible for him, including Dr. Elektra Kostopoulou for introducing him to the island and the wider Leros Solidarity Network.
