• Kelly E. Nagle

Kelly Nagle will complete her Master’s degree in Political Science – United Nations and Global Policy (UNMA) in January 2020 at Rutgers University. Her studies in the UNMA program include post-conflict development and peacebuilding, human rights, gender equity, international development, Islam, and politics in the Middle East. Specific areas of research include women under the Islamic State, civils wars and peacebuilding in Africa, gender in sex trafficking, breast cancer in Muslim majority countries, and human rights and the use of armed drones. Her graduate work, as well as her undergraduate studies at Loyola University Maryland, has been focused on Africa and the Middle East.

Kelly has over ten years of professional experience in the non-profit industry, most recently as the Executive Director of Susan G. Komen North Jersey where she led the implementation of national initiatives at the local level to provide access to care and reduce mortality from breast cancer. Under her leadership, Komen North Jersey was awarded the 2017 Patient Access and Advocacy Award by the Healthcare Institute of New Jersey. Earlier in her non-profit career Kelly held leadership positions at the local offices of the March of Dimes and the American Lung Association. Throughout her career Kelly successfully guided teams to achieve development, operational and advocacy goals, as well as demonstrated her ability to bring a vision-driven approach to decision making, strategic planning, and tactical implementation.

Kelly’s passion for human rights and advocacy led her to pursue a graduate degree that provides the opportunity to align her professional experience with academics and make a mid-career transition to a role that addresses these issues on a global scale. Upon graduation, Kelly is seeking a career in intelligence, peacebuilding and post-conflict development, human rights, counterterrorism and/or foreign policy.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Kelly spends her time focused on health and wellness activities. She enjoys exercising, is a certified TRX Group Training instructor, and is training for her first half marathon. Her volunteer activities include the Advisory Board for Rutgers Athletics’ Office of Leadership Development and Strategic Partnerships to support the holistic development of student athletes and the Board of Directors of the Loyola University Maryland New York Alumni Chapter. Kelly is currently refreshing her proficiency in French and would like to learn Farsi.
