BIO:

Shetal Oza is a M.A. Candidate in the Political Science - United Nations and Global Policy Studies program at Rutgers University - New Brunswick. She was a part of the Eagleton Institute of Politics' Graduate Fellowship, Class of 2022. Her fellowship placement was at the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, Office of the Deputy Commissioner - Legal, Regulatory & Legislative Affairs where she now works as an hourly Program Specialist, going full-time after graduation.

Shetal is passionate about continuing her career in public service post-graduation at NJDEP, and is looking forward to working on projects that help reduce and respond to climate change and revitalize communities.

Before commencing her graduate studies, Shetal graduated from Rutgers University - New Brunswick in May 2021 with a B.A. in Political Science and graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, Pi Sigma Alpha, and Gamma Sigma Alpha. During her undergraduate career at Rutgers, she worked for Congressman Tom Malinowski's campaign, Common Cause, Rutgers Office of Federal Relations, and for Mayor Gayle Brill Mittler of the Borough of Highland Park, NJ.

Shetal speaks three languages besides English: Gujarati, Spanish, and Hindi. At some point in her career, Shetal wants to work to further diversify the public sector by mentoring younger immigrants and hopefully, inspiring them into action.
