This purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the institutions and processes of American government. Beginning with the philosophical antecedents of the Constitution, we will examine the circumstances surrounding the adoption of the Constitution and proceed to subsequent discussions of political socialization, public opinion, the role of the media, interest groups, Congress and the presidency.
