Title: Law and Politics (790:106:01-09)

Synopsis: This class is designed to introduce students to the study of law and courts as integral parts of the political process.  Four main areas will animate our discussions: 1) understanding legal rules and legal reasoning 2) understanding the federal courts and public policymaking 3) the problem of counter-majoritarian decision-making (i.e., the Supreme Court) in a democratic society and 4) does it really matter what the Supreme Court does anyway? The course requires reading, writing and several in-class exams.
