Synopsis: This course explores how culture matters for the study of political science. Human behavior and rationality occur within cultural and historical contexts, and so it is important to understand the role culture plays in the major political events of the 20th and 21st centuries. After investigating the major theoretical currents in the study of culture, we will explore political culture across empirical contexts such as democracy, historical memory, social movements, and mass media
